Wiki: Description: This is used to gather ideas and thoughts. However, we had to be cautious as to what we said and did on this page being that it is visible to the public. It worked by having each student log on to the wiki website. They had to create a username and than create a page. On their page, they could add pictures, files, text, and more. Also, they could discuss their ideas which is why this is such a great site for group projects. You can create your own page, by clicking “New page” which is on the top right of the page, shown below. Also, you can see that there tabs that students can utilize. Self- Assessment: This was helpful in teaching me that utilizing the wiki page is a way for students to complete work both in and out of class. Additionally, I think that telling them that other people can view there page will encourage them to work harder.
Educational Setting: It could be used in the educational setting for a project over the summer. Perhaps a teacher could assign groups to create a page on their summer reading book. This way, they get back into the swing of doing schoolwork without having to actually come into school before the year begins. Also, it could be used as a project on inventors and we could start it in class, so that students know exactly what they are doing, but they will continue their page at home. It fits the UDL approach because it could be worked on in different environments. It is not something that must be done at home. Anything flexible, such as the wiki page, fits the UDL! This fits under the NETS-S standard in the category Communication and Collaboration, because the discussion board as shown below is an example of communication and it is discussing who is going to contribute what to our project which is collaboration.
